A. Citizen in a democratic country participated in the government through elections.
People elect their representatives
The elected representatives govern the country on behalf of the people.
If the people are not satisfied with the government, they can remove the representation in the
next elections.

A. Democracy is much more than just a form of government as it is also a form of
society and economy:
Justice, freedom and human dignity are the values of democracy
Hence, when these values are deeply embedded in the political, social and economic life of
the people, Democracy can be made more meaningful.

Q3. What do you understand by rule of law?
A. Rule of Law: means all are equal before the law
It means no distinction between the rich and the poor or the educated or uneducated to ensure
that there is no one above the law.
This law also protects individuals against social evils such as untouchability,
child marriage and other forms of discrimination.

A. Democratic society is one in which there is no discrimination, no social evils are practised.
Everyone is treated equally with equal opportunities for growth and development.
No privilege based on religion, caste, race or place of birth is given.

Economic democracy means equal opportunities for employment to all.
Absence of all kinds of exploitation i.e. workers should not be exploited by owners and
peasants should not be exploited by landlords
Fair distribution of wealth in the society
